National Honor Society
- Advisor: Elsa Wajda
- Membership into the Eleanor J. Rinker Chapter of the Palisades Park National Honor Society. This society is one of the highest honors that can be afforded a student at Palisades Park High School. Not only does it recognize academic excellence, but it also honors the student who is well rounded, as evidenced by his or her participation and leadership in school, and in community services. In addition, candidates are expected to exhibit the highest qualities of character. Therefore, nomination on the basis of academic performance, an honor itself, does not guarantee final acceptance in the National Honor Society. Furthermore, induction in this society does not signify permanent membership. The committee reviews, on a semi-annual basis, those members who have been accepted.
The National Honor Society members are selected and inducted when they are in grade 11 and fulfill their service as a Senior.
Steps:
The student must have a GPA of 4.0 or more after mid-term exams
Student is nominated and receives information to be accepted as a member.
2. A National Honor Society prospective candidate must display the highest standards of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. A prospective candidate must score a total of nine points or more from the criteria sections. Points can be accumulated through the number of activities a student is involved in, their GPA, leadership activities, and the interview. If a candidate does not total nine points or more, he/she will not be considered for entrance into the National Honor Society. Adviser’s recommendations and faculty evaluations will also assist the Faculty Council with their final decision. - We will meet twice a month on Mondays.
